Why support the fund?
By supporting the use of renewable energy at Cornell, you can help ensure a cleaner future for Cornellians yet to come.
As an internationally renowned University where much of the initial research on climate change was done, Cornell should be setting an example for the rest of the world. When Cornell became the first University to agree to abide by the Kyoto Protocol on greenhouse gas emissions reductions in April of 2001 they received nationwide attention and dozens of other universities looked at what they could do to prevent climate change. By supporting renewables at Cornell, we can help set the trend for other Universities to follow.
Cornell has been aggressively reducing its energy consumption since agreeing to meet Kyoto standards, but as more buildings and research areas are added to the University the only way to truly reduce our environmental footprint is to switch to non-polluting renewable energy. By contributing to the solar fund, you can help Cornell begin down that path. |
